Whilst we have suspended our normal activities, we are offering assistance to the most vulnerable and needy during this crisis
We are all aware of the impact that COVID-19 has had on everyone in the UK and around the world. We know of elderly people that have died in their homes already with no food in the fridge and obviously no-one they can turn to. This is not acceptable to any of us when we live in the 6th largest economy in the world.
Unfortunately, traditional procedures for donating food and supplies is not reaching the people it should be, because the traditional food banks are unable to service deliveries etc to those vulnerable and needy individuals and families who are having to self-isolate in the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire area.
Many of these are elderly and have the least accessibility to online contacts and support. Many of the schemes we have been speaking to in the last couple of days are seriously suffering from their volunteers and staff having to self-isolate during this crisis – and these numbers will obviously accelerate over the next days and weeks.
